Summary
An Extra Pair of Hands provides home services throughout the Lower north Island. We are completing the Manawatu sustainable business programme. We now consider sustainability in all our activities.

Creating no waste
All packaging, incoming mail and outgoing mail has been reduced. Our administration team is working towards receiving all incoming mail electronically. This has reduced our waste paper considerably.

Using clean energy
The scheduling of daily work has been refined so that teams can works in one suburb on one day. This has reduced travel related costs including travel time.

Harmless to nature
Cleaning products have been introduced that contain all natural ingredients. These products are made exclusively for AN EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS so we know exactly what the ingredients are in each product. All ingredients are chosen with our goal to be sustainable. In addition to this we have found that they are much healthier for our team to use – and leaves a lovely smell in clients homes!

Meeting people’s needs
When each vacancy is advertised it is also listed with disability support organizations. We currently have three deaf people on our team.

Running with less
Packaging used by suppliers is now a factor in all purchasing decisions. We are requesting that businesses we deal with that use postal mail send all correspondence by email.

Long term profitability
We are relocating our head office to premises that have shared facilities with other businesses.
